Fried Chicken and Gasoline

Once again, Southern Culture on the Skids pays Gainesville a visit next Friday night (10/21) at the new venue called Abbey Road (formally known as Brick City and Skeeters). Being a local marketing rep for the band's label, I was quite surprised when my contact with the company was able to put me on the guest list (plus one of course). For those of you unfamiliar with this fun band, here are some linky dinks....

Are tickets on sale in advance anywhere or is the venue large enough they are only selling at the door?

Sunday = Funday

Yesterday, I had a rough day up until 3pm. After 550 customers at the shop, I staggered home and was greeted with a plethora of surprises. One of these fun things was a trip to the movie theater to see "Wallace and Gromit and the Case of the Were Rabbit". W&G shorts and movies are painstakingly created by using a film technique called stop action. The characters are made entirely with clay and are slightly moved between each take, which are filmed. It takes years to create a movie, but the efforts are amazing. There is adult humor throughout and lots of sight gags too. There was actually a cartoon starring the Madagascar Penguins before the main feature. The jokes came fast and furious so make sure you are awake or on caffeine. Both were quite funny and highly recommend it for your children and your inner child. What a nice way to wind down my day...

Homecoming

After a weekend of parade watching, tailgating and laughing with friends, I'm off to open the store at 6:30am. I expect a crazy day of parents, students and alumni grabbing lattes before they hit the road after visiting the city for homecoming. I'm a little (who am I kidding, a lot) sunburnt on my head after sweltering in the sun on Friday for parade watching. Unfortunately, I have to wear a hat for work (health department rules) am I'm none too pleased this morning. Time to hit the road Jack...
