As I Was Saying...

...so I was invited to volunteer with my comrades at the Urban Meyer Scramble for Kids banquet this evening. The highlights were photos with Mr and Mrs Meyer and a real live auction of a pair of national championship rings that fetched $50,000 (all for charity folks). Roll the pics please....

Remember, real music is out there...

....and real people are makin' it."

Yeah...you don't know him. He's Webb Wilder. He "plays both kinds of music, Rock and Roll". His credo: "Work hard, rock hard, sleep hard, eat hard, grow big, wear glasses if you need 'em." After 16 years of listening to his music, I'm finally getting to check him out at Skippers on Friday night before heading to Brandon and Coral Springs. Nothing better than live music and smoked mullet.

What is Your Legacy?

I miss my Nan and Gramps. Something about today made me think about them. In a roundabout way they're always with me. I recently read "First Things First" and it challenges you to to live, to love, to learn and to leave a legacy. My grandparents have left an amazing legacy of art, music, laughter and family. I hope one day I can do the same. Reminds me of the lyric....

Someday well I’ll get it right.
Yeah one day I’ll get it right.

Yeah...That pretty much sums it up...

Mobile Blog is on the Move

Well...my mobile blogging capability is back. It had something to do with me losing my patience or the fact that BLOGGER forced me to upgrade. What does this mean? I can instantly blog from my cell phone...anywhere...To celebrate...I will mobile blog for my buddies in N'Awlins while I'm in Jax. I truly feel like I was there in spirit.

No...I don't think you did. I am an expert. Do not try this in the French Quarter without proper supervision.

Not in My Own Words

Be good and you will be lonesome
Be lonesome and you will be free
Live a lie and you will live to regret it
That's what livin' is to me
That's what livin' is to me

-Jimmy Buffett (with help from Mark Twain)

I just want to live until I've gotta die
I know I ain't perfect, but God knows I try
I think I'm an alright guy, I think I'm alright

-Todd Snider

You're foolin' yourself if you don't believe it
You're kidding yourself if you don't believe it
Get up, get back on your feet
You're the one they can't beat and you know it
Come on, let's see what you've got
Just take your best shot and don't blow it

-Styx

Last Days of Chez Brew

The aroma slowly fades away. A body of sadness and emptiness. Remnants of acidity, but the flavor still lingers...

While You Were Sleeping

Cut to 5:15am...my alarm clock decides to start my day and greets me with a furious buzzzzzzzz....Brrrrr, it's chilly outside and the covers are toasty warm deep inside my "600 thread count cotton cocoon". I need to plot the shortest route to the shower through the frozen burber tundra...maybe it's time to turn on the heat? Nah...Why am I up so early? Doing some volunteering for a marathon taking place on campus. I'm representing Starbucks (of course) with 30 gallons of coffee, which was being organized by one of our managers. By 8:30am....there's not a drop of liquid caffeine left. It was cold...ski jacket cold..isotoner glove cold...wool cap cold...bone rattling cold. I'm now on top of 600 of my warmest friends and thinking about a little shut-eye, but the day has just begun. I'm off to lunch at 11am, a ballgame at 1pm and some good old trailer park trash rock and roll with some close friends at 7pm. Tomorrow is more store destruction and then I'm off to Jax for a three day meeting. My pillow top feels really cozy....Fade to Black...

These Shirts Were Made for Talking

If you don't know me and focus squarely on my chest, you might find a clue to my inner being. What am I saying? Nothing. I let my tees dot your eyes....
