The Boot
So, I'm going to Italy in September. Really. Not lying. No, you can't come along. I'm actually going with a couple of wonderful people for 10 days. Three friends wandering around Tuscany will be a trip of a lifetime. I've never been to Europe and actually have never been out of the country except to go to Quebec. Canada doesn't count. Some of you may disagree, but traveling up to see our neighbors to the North is like living in South Dakota and then visiting NORTH DAKOTA! Yippee...but I digress. I received my first passport in the mail recently. It's pretty cool and my picture came out sweet! I wore the wig so I can keep customs on their toes. The plan is to fly into Florence and spend the first couple of nights exploring the city. We will then escape to Siena, but recently a wonderful wrench was thrown into our plans. The day we leave Florence, there is a Classico Chianti wine festival in Greve starting that morning! We couldn't have planned it any better. We hope to tour a vineyard, visit the cities of Pisa and Lucca, eat lots of cheese, see a museum or twenty and just...BE. That's the best part. We plan on fitting in (i.e. limited luggage, attitude and everything American) and embrace the culture. Two of us are in charge of the itinerary which continues to morph into a dreamy escapade. One of us is in charge of learning Italian. We can't lose her or we'll end up at a McDonald's in Slovania. I'll keep you posted on our progress so stay tuned....

Good for you! Enjoy yourself, mangia (I think that's how you spell it), drink and soak in the atmosphere of Italy! Remember The Talented Mr. Ripley, you may catch a cool musical act or two!

That one who is learning Italian may be the most importatnt part of your trip. Be very very nice to her!
..so am I going to meet Jude Law? Ewww. Maybe I need to rethink my trip.
